fiesta-st-race7   Man, what a blast the past few months have been with the Project Fiesta ST! The photo above is how it appears today - but let’s step back a few weeks to the car’s original debut, the friday before Fabulous Fords Forever, the biggest Ford show on the West Coast. ModAuto_Fiesta_ST_Rally_Innov_Nick-8Since we last wrote, this little car has made quite the transformation. Our Project Fiesta ST now has some “show” to match the “GO” it already had. We’ve recently partnered with local manufacturer Rally Innovations who designs and manufactures aero parts and rally gear - originally with the Subaru market and now with the Ford EcoBoost scene. All the aero parts you see on the car are available right here at ModAuto and we have these in stock. ModAuto_Fiesta_ST_Rally_Innov_Nick-7Up front the COBB Tuning Front Mount Intercooler pokes out, completely filling the lower grille opening - the COBB FMIC is the single largest direct bolt on core FMIC currently on the market, offering a significant drop in Air Charge Temperatures - the FMIC is the key component that lets you bump up your tune to Stage II and III so it’s definitely important. Since we last wrote, we used the Cobb Chargepipes for a while before switching out for a Mountune Hotside Chargepipe used with the OEM intercooler pipes and swapped out the COBB Rear Motor Mount for Mountune RMM, only because I had the extra credit at Mountune and felt like changing things up a bit. ModAuto_Fiesta_ST_Rally_Innov_Nick-5 From this angle you can make out the contours of the black Rally Innovations Front Splitter for Fiesta ST, which compliments the Rally Innovations Side Skirt Diffuser Extensions for Fiesta ST and Rally Innovations Rear Wing for Fiesta.ModAuto_Fiesta_ST_Rally_Innov_Nick-9The huge Rally Innovations Fiesta rear wing is a big attention getter and also aerodynamically functional. It’s worth noting that this is the first production spoiler from Rally Innovations, and only the current batch sits at this height - later production runs will feature taller endplates that add another 1.5-2” to bring the blade further into the airflow going over the car. In this photo, the car’s sitting on a set of Sparco 17in wheels, custom powdercoated yellow. While these sure made a splash for Fabulous Fords Forever, they’re a bit too loud to stay on my daily driven car - and the yellow wheels really did break necks at the show.ModBargains_ModAuto_FabFords-2015-BoothPic-2 ModBargains_ModAuto_FabFords-2015-BoothPic-5 After the show, we experimented with a few different lighting configurations to put the Rally Innovations Front Light Mounting Plate for Fiesta to good use. The default is to stagger two up, two down, classic rally style, but that really didn’t fit the character of the car… so we had  to change it. ModAuto_Fiesta_ST_Rally_Innov_Nick-19After experimented with the staggered mounting configuration, we found we liked mounting for auxiliary lights straight across was the best looking setup. ModAuto_FiestaST_-3 ModAuto_FiestaST_-1 ModAuto_FiestaST_-5I got the look I wanted for the Project Fiesta ST just right the Friday night before our Monthly Ford Performance meet at ModAuto on April 25th - just in the knick of time. fiesta-st-race11 Our April 25th meet was a huge success drawing more than 40 of the highest performance late model Ford vehicles in SoCal - We added silver vinyl to the Front Splitter and Side Skirt Diffuser endplates to add some contrast and keep the aero details from disappearing in shadows.fiesta-st-race10 After showing our stuff at the meet, it was time to put the mods to the test on the track the following Tuesday April 28th, for the Ford Vs Chevy Shootout at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, Ca. Each session costs just $20, and it’s a proper road course, if a bit small, that’s been in operation since 1959 - it’s a wicked inexpensive way to go take your car road racing on a weekday night and a hell of a lot of fun.fiesta-st-race2In the pits at the races, we shared the company of Rally Innovations’ Focus ST and a very radical, totally custom, widebody turbocharged Ford Cortina. The Cortina was one of the most impressive builds we saw at Fab Fords, so we welcomed the opportunity to get to know its owner.fiesta-st-race8As the sun began to set on a hot 100f day, we hit the track and we got to put the finished project ST through its paces on a track for the first time since completing it. fiesta-st-race3Despite the heat the car behaved well on a mostly unfamiliar road course, and we shaved more than 6 seconds from our first lap out to our last run of the session, and Adams Motorsports Park’s tight layout really put the Fiesta ST suspension through the wringer - despite the trackday flogging, the ST Suspensions XTA Adjustable coilovers for Fiesta ST gripped well and handling response was firm and composed. Check out these action shots from the track courtesy of our friend Wesley at Rally Innovations. fiesta-st-race6 fiesta-st-race5 fiesta-st-race9THE BUILD SHEET 2014 Ford Fiesta ST PERFORMANCE: COBB AccessPORT V3 w/Custom tune by Mountune USA COBB Front Mount Intercooler COBB Catted Downpipe COBB Cat-Back Exhaust Modified INJEN Air Intake Mountune Hotside Chargepipe Mountune Rear Motor Mount WHEELS & TIRES XXR Type 528 17x7 ET 38 Accelera Alpha 215/40-17 SUSPENSION ST Suspensions XTA Adjustable Coilovers Pierce Motorsports Front Strut Tower Brace Pierce Motorsports Lower Tie Brace (2pt) STEEDA Rear Torsion Beam Brace LIGHTING Diode Dynamics Luxeon LED Fog Lamps (OE Replacement) Imported European Fiesta Projector Headlights 4300K HID Retrofitted, custom LED front turn signals INTERIOR ST Battery Tie Down ST E-Brake Trim Garnish ST Dead Pedal ASD Accelerator Pedal Lift Spacer EXTERIOR Rally Innovations Front Splitter Rally Innovations Front Light Plate w/6x Light Mounting Provisions Rally setup: Baja Designs Squadron LEDRally Innovations Side Skirt Diffusers Rally Innovations Rear Spoiler ROKBLOKZ Shorty Mudflaps Rally Innovations “BOSS” style Body Side Graphics Package in Silver Rally Innovations “BOSS”  style Hood “blackout” Graphics in Silver fiesta-st-race4 Interested in Fiesta ST Mods for your own car?
